Logic Texts on Assertibility - Dictionary of Arguments

Read III 89
Assertibility: not the same as truth. What is true may not be assertible and vice versa. (E.g. the location of an electron) What can be asserted is perhaps not true.
>Assertion
, >Assertibility conditions, >Truth.
Read III 94
Assertion and assertibility: are terms that are applied to complete statements, not their parts!
Read III 91
E.g. If Edmund is a coward, it follows that both "Edmund is a coward or he is a mountaineer," and "if Edmund is brave, he is a mountaineer" are true. But it does not follow that both can be asserted, for their assertion implies that the reason the assertion is some link between his cowardice and his being a mountaineer.
>Disjunction.
